Strategic ASFINAG Project
45 Battery Energy Storage Systems for ASFINAG Sites Across Austria
This large-scale project comprises the main construction works for the deployment of 45 Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The key activities include the delivery, transportation, and joint commissioning of the systems at the respective ASFINAG sites across Eastern, Central, and Western Austria.
The cabling and connection to the existing high-voltage power grid will be carried out by a dedicated installation contractor in accordance with the specifications provided by the supplier.
In addition, the foundations for the containerized solutions will be constructed by the same contractor based on the load specifications supplied by the manufacturer.

Battery Energy Storage System for Stadtwerke Amstetten
Stadtwerke Amstetten is currently implementing a pioneering large-scale project involving the installation of a modern Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The objective is to make the regional energy supply more sustainable, flexible, and resilient in the face of future challenges and potential crises.
The project includes the following technical and functional specifications:
Provision of ancillary services: The system will provide both Primary Frequency Control Reserve (FCR) and Secondary Control Reserve (aFRR) and will actively participate in the energy market.
- Black-start capability & emergency power supply: In combination with the existing hydropower plant, the system will ensure a reliable power supply to local consumers at the power plant site as well as the Pölz Hall in Amstetten in the event of a grid outage.
- Reactive power management: The system is capable of supplying and compensating reactive power, thereby improving overall grid stability.
- Self-consumption optimization: Energy generated from hydropower or photovoltaic systems can be efficiently stored and used for on-site consumption.
- Future-proof scalability: The installation is modular and expandable, making it ideally suited to meet future requirements and growing energy demands.
